Getting started
What is Lend Shed? An Australian peer-to-peer rental marketplace where neighbours rent gear to each other — tools, trailers, camping equipment, electronics, party gear — by the hour or by the day.
Is it free to use? Browsing and listing are free. Renters pay no separate platform fee — the listing price is what you pay. Owners receive 80% of each rental; Lend Shed retains 20%.
Renting
How do I book? Open the listing, choose dates, tap Request to book. The owner has a few hours to accept (less for last-minute pickups). Your card is authorised but only charged when they do.
What if I damage something? Tell the owner straight away through the chat. Honest, early communication usually leads to a fair outcome from the bond.
Listing
How do I get paid? Payouts go to your bank via Stripe within a few business days of return. Track everything in your dashboard.
Am I covered for damage? Yes. Every rental has a refundable bond authorisation that can be claimed against documented damage or loss.
Payments & bond
When does my bond drop off? Within a few business days of a clean return — usually 1-3 working days, up to 7 with some banks.
